Before you go out and buy a new remote, try reprogramming the existing remote. When mine started to give me grief I went the same route you did. Even reprogrammed both remotes after I replaced batteries in them. The first reprogramming worked great for my wife's remote but mine was still not working. I reprogrammed the system again and presto...remote works. It is 3 months later and it is still working great.
