Just wanted to relay a success story of fixing a power window switch...in this case the front passenger door. (I forgot to take digital pictures of the procedure...nuts):
1) The hardest part was probably getting the switch out of the door...it's in there pretty snug. I used a 1.25-inch putty knife, made sure there were no rough edges, and wrapped it with electrical tape (this is per Volvo instructions...I have the PDF file if anyone needs it).
Even then I had to also use a couple screwdrivers...and had to apply a fair amount of pressure...I was surprised actually that I didn't break anything or leave any marks.
2) Once the switch is out, there are two wire harnesses...disconnect them by squeezing and pulling.
3) Then the bottom of the switch has to be pried off to get to the innards...this required multiple small screwdrivers to release several tabs.
4) Once you get to the innards, there are 4 "prongs" that need cleaned. I used a small file and just scraped away at the contacts...there WAS a fair amount of black crud on the prongs.
5) Then reassemble.
Worked for me...this was my first time.
