Bret,

The reason why big brake kits come with new calipers are to upgrade the stopping power of the brakes. As far as I know, the 70 series come with 2 piston calipers. A lot of the big brake kits are upgradable to using 4,6, even 8 piston calipers. What they do is use up more surface to brake, hence the shorter stopping distances. As far as functionality, they all do the same thing.
