I would agree with the post below, the V70R owner. I have done extensive research into this since I had been looking for a proper avenue for my car, since last October. I had scoured the Internet (and Euro catalogues) for info and I did learn a lot, more than I thought I would.

If you want to upgrade your car, the old adage "you get what you pay for" is applicable 100%. This is not an area where you can take shortcuts. There are many companies out there that offer products that range in quality and driver satisfaction from "poor" to "dynamic". Without ranking them, according to my opinion, I ended up with ipd for quite a few good reasons (search the archives from last month for the detaled post that I put up here) but most and foremost: 1. Customer service and 2. Flash technology. Customer service was impeccable, they never seemed impatient with me or laughed at my worrisome questions that I posed. Flash technology, and this can be subjective: I would much rather go this way than having someone mess with soldering (and desoldering if things go awry) chips on my car's brain...NO WAY! Many companies will promise you a lot; from HUGE HP gains (during my search I had found companies that promised me up to 330HP!!!) but the torque gains were not as great or the huge HP gains have not been thought out with the long term potential for engine damage. A soldered chip must be done by someone who has an MPECCABLE knowledge and handling of electronic circuit boards and there are hardly enough good people out there. Furthermore, if a chip is DEsoldered, 99% of the times, physical damage (sometimes minimal sometimes major) occurs. I wanted a system that was not going to have a physical IMPLANT on my computer. I was, reluctantly, seriously considering having to go in that direction until I found out that ipd just came out with their long awaited ME7 upgrade (from TME). I always preferred flashing my ECU but I could not find anyone. I followed my gut instinct (and the facts that I had gathered during the last 4 months) and I have no regrets! None, whatsoever! Yes, I paid more but I don't regret it. And there is tremendous warranty. Other companies give you only 90 days or they sell a "one year engine warranty"...you can decide what that means!
