OIL information - is 5 K normal S70 1998

I just purchased a S70 GLT with 80K, and I started using synethetic oil. With traditional oil in my other cars I always changed it every 3K. Is 5K the norm for synethetic? I don't drive my car hard, if that makes a difference.
