Currently, I am working on the more technical aspects of this discussion for an article on the website, and have had some interesting conversations about the whole thing with many members across all forums. My impression is that Mobile 1 has "sold out" so to speak to the whims of the car makers rather than to those who want the absolute best protection in a synthetic oil. Their actions, as I understand them, have tainted my impression/recommendation of their product.

The API certification is a joke in my eyes and irrelevant when looking at data rather than a label. But some members on the Maxima site feel better seeing a label on a bottle than they are about what's actually in the bottle.
