Because the new coupe will be based on the platform that the new S40 will be built from. It will be bigger than the current S40 but smaller than the current C70 platform. Most coupes are headed toward that direction; smaller, sportier, more powerful and AWD. The C50 will follow this new trend. There are also tentative plans for an even smaller version of that model, the C30.
