I had to use the extension lever approach, and I think I have the same Wiha tool. I remember being concerned about the handle, but it was elastic enough to take the bending. It was definitely difficult and pushed the limits of the poor tool, but it finally came loose.

I replaced my thermostat at 60,000 and really don't plan to have the car at 120,000! (but we'll see!!!)
