Programming a new key? V70-XC70 2001

Thanks for the info Kraut. I think that maybe they are not gouging me on the price because they didn't tell me that it needed to be programmed to begin with. All they told me was that a new key would be around $40.00. I guess technically they were telling the truth, but customer service wise, they blew it. Also, I read somewhere on this board that someone had a remote programmed but then his other remote did not work. Does the same thing apply to a key? Does my existing key and remote need to be reprogrammed along with my new key?
