Volvo Strut Tower Bar and Bilsteins 850 1995

ipd tells u to cut the bracket. i did, rounded out the cut edges, and repainted it, and looks/works fine. put in the strut bar myself too, really simple. it really stiffened up the car. as for bilsteins, i remember it was quite a change from the stock shocks. i like the setup for comfort. but i decided to get the ipd sport springs later and yeah, i love how it handles...but i just wish it would lighten up a bit on the rough roads when carrying my folks, guess that comes with the territory =). yeah, think ipd replaced it's design a few times already on the rear; when they first came out, they had 25mm rear, now they're all 22 mm. mine broke, but they replaced it free (took it out myself..but i couldn't put new one in cause of suspension geometry with that delta-link, so had it done). maybe this new rear will be more durable. all i can say the transformation is quite impressive, when u put all the things together.

to improve the ride, i looked for some other options, like ohlins, leda, koni, but none of them provided the real information/performance i was looking for. i also thought about having thicker 17" tires (more normal sizes, like 225-45-17), but that would require fender lipping and more wheel offset or something like that. so...i'm stuck with great handling, but lousy ride for now =) (now..didn't that sound like the complaint of the stock 850 ride too, hehe)
