From what my mechanic at my Volvo dealership told me was that 94-97 850's are good cars, with 97 being the best year overall, but stay away from 98 and newer. He feels that the quality was simply not there, and they are more trouble prone. It was just his opinion. I have the same mechanic work on mine every time.
