Where did the powwer steering fluid go? S70 1998

My wife was leaving for a 3 hour trip yesterday and I performed my usual "pre-trip" inspeciton of her car. The power steering fluid was very low so I added Dexron III ATF per the owner's manual. I haven't noticed any fluid leaking from the car and it is parked in our garage over a large piece of cardboard (in order to detect any fluid leaks).

I'm stumped as to where the fluid has gone. Any ideas?
