Thanks for all the input.
The final repair consisted of a hose, accumulator, A/C O-rings, and freon total cost $276, and labor of $227 with the usual taxes, shop supplies and fees for a Grand total of $584.
One interesting point. They didn't have to charge me for puttting dye in the system $20 because someone already had. Evidently, when dye is put into the system, a tag is placed on the system to warn of its presence in the system. Maybe to keep more from being added. Gee, I wonder who did that, and why? Is there anyone who knows if there is some point during scheduled maintanence checks that this is done? Otherwise, I never asked for anything, and I have no record of ever needing, to be done with the A/C system other than the TSB mentioned above.
Sorry, all the cash I've put into my car in the last month makes me more suspicious than usual.
