Noise in LT FT 850 1994

A broken spring seat, also known as a rubber strut mount, is usually identified as a "klunk" sound that occurs when going over bumps or when hitting a pothole. It usually isn't associated with turning only.

2 easy ways to check for it are first to open the hood and look at the top of the struts as they enter the engine compartment. The 2 sides should look identical. If they don't then you may have a broken seat. Second, grab the large 3" washer on top of the strut. If you can twist it with strong hands or a pair of channel-lock pliers, then the mount is probably bad.

If everything is tight and in good condition then both sides will look identical and the top washer will not twist.
