I can understand your curiousity as this site is comprised of many interesting people... some are "old school" Volvo drivers that value the Volvo history, some are Volvo mechanics, and we also see the younger crowd, that, might have just "inherited" the folks "old" Volvo and realize it's a well-built and suprisingly agile vehicle.
I lost my father to cancer in '95, and a few years later, my mother met a really nice man(he lost his wife about the same time)... that enjoyed driving, and maintaining Volvos (He's a lifelong mechanic, and a damn good one). I eventually came to know the man and appreciate his passion for the Volvo automobile. He let me drive his 740 and a couple of his 240's... He did an excellent job on them, and recently I found myself needing a second car... With his recommendations and success with Volvo's, I bought a used 850 from the local Volvo dealer here in Austin, Tx. (Roger Beasley)... I love the car, the dealer(and parts shop) have been a pleasure to work with, and my two sons think my car is "cool"!
Thank God my sons are only 1 and 4 years old... I get to selfishly enjoy MY "toy" a bit longer...
I'm 35
