While I don't know about the Volvo in particular, most interference engines like the Volvo can take an jump of 1-2 teeth with out exploding the motor. It does cause problems with the idle and power drops, but it usually will run.

If you have a question about your motor or if you think it may have jumped a tooth then check it out ASAP. If it has jumped a tooth then replace the belt and tensioner immediately.
