A/C Low Pressure Switch failed? 850 1995

Hi Steve:
Had the same thing happen to my 960. Replaced the "pressostat" which is on the side of the receiver dryer next to the firewall. I could take the connector off and jump the two terminals on the cable and the compressor would run (continuously). Went to the dealer and got a new one ($60, ouch). Put it on and it runs fine. I don't know how to test the switch, but they do go bad. I do think that you need to put a gauge on the low pressure service port to read the pressure. You can get a fairly cheap one at the auto parts stores, and some of them will "loan" you the real gauges to use in the parking lot.

Hope this helps.

Mike Brown
