Hello Jeremye,
Well I have some experience in doing this myself as I bought a 1997 850R this month and of course like every 850 I see the trim, bumpers, door handles, and roof trim look horrible. Here is what I did. Last time I did the bumpers on my 1995 I took them off which took alot of time.
1. Used a scrub pad with soap and water to remove any oils and dirt.
2. Masked off the areas that I wanted to paint. I found some pretaped plastic masking stuff at home depot for about 10 bucks and it was enought to do the entire car. I masked everything extremely well and took my time in doing so.
3. Used a scuff pad to make the paint adhere better.
4. Wiped down all surfaces with a tack cloth.
5. Used dupli color trim paint without primer. Did about 4 coats on each piece and looks really good.
6. Let it dry 14 hours before driving the car just to make sure.
That's it good luck.
Tony
