Battery question... S70 1998

Hi all, I have a weird problem and was hoping for some input...

I hopped in my car today and drove about 5 miles to the local Home Depot. When I stopped in my spot and turned off the car (98 S70 T5M) I noticed that everything turned off (clock on the dash, interior lights...). Feeling something was wrong I went to try and start the car again, no luck, it barely made a sound, just a faint clicking. I assumed, at this point, the battery was dead. I push started the car and it fired up ok... But as I drove it It exhibited even more behavior of a dead battery, lights fading out, almnost dying, etc etc.

So, here's the question part: Is it strange for the battery, which never really gave any signs of going, to just up and die like this?

Another question, more of a survey, how long have other S70 batteries lasted? I have a car made in late 97 which has 52,000 miles on it (only 10,000 of which are mine...)

One last thing, a few days ago I took out and cleaned my throttle body... anyone think theres something I could have messed up there that would cause it not to start? (keeping in mind I hopped in and drove it for about 5-7 miles without so much as a hiccup...)

Thanks!
Scott Silverman
