How did you check the fuel filter? I replaced mine well before suggested by Volvo, and it was disgusting. At 50K, probably still on the original fuel fitler, I'd replace it.

Another thing I would look at are electrical connections for the ignition system. Also, I'd inspect the MAF, and the connection to it. Sometimes dirt or corrosion occurs there.
