It's all the stupid, eco-friendly/Volvo owner unfriendly glue that Volvo uses. So does SAAB. Almost every old SAAB built over the last 25 years will get a droopy headliner, eventually. The paint is crap, too. The problem is almost everything is like this now. The bad glue and the crappy water based paint. Bad solder in Volvos, too. Even the vaunted BMWs have brittle paint and leather upholstery that looks terrible when the car gets a few years old.

As I wrote below "Since this is a known problem, you might try contacting your dealer and ask him to contact the Volvo zone rep, to see if there is a "hidden warranty" involving this problem. If that is unsuccessful, (granted, the most likely scenario) you might ask if they have a vinyl repair guy who repairs the door panels on their used cars."

Also check upholstery shops, I'd guess they can perform a repair for less than your Volvo dealer can.

Finally, if you're still seeing your dealer, find an indy Volvo shop. Vote with your feet!

I agree with what you're saying, but I still don't plan to get rid of mine until it's accumulated at least 150,000 miles. Would I buy another one, knowing what I know now? Ummmm......when is BMW going to put that neat 3.0 liter motor in either one of it's wagons?
