Transmission Flush/ Problems? 850 1996

I recently flushed my 94 and 96 850 Wagons using the information posted on the Brickboard. I'm going to do it regularly from now on. I didn't use any aditives or cleaners prior to flush, just filled with good ol' Chevron dextron III/Mercon ATF. What is BG cleaner and conditioner? Cost? I'm a bit skeptical, but since the ATF that I flushed was darn ugly, I now wonder if I should have used a cleaner.
