Engine ticking when cold. 850 1993

I just bought a 93 850 2.o GLT. When the engine is cold many times i hear a ticking in the engine bay that increaces itīs repetition as i increase the revs on the engine. What can this be?
My car has 95k miles on it. Is it time to replace the oxigen sensor? How do i know? What about engine protection? I was thinking about puting Spanjard protection.
