Hi,
I heard the XC90 and 2003 V70 XC will be getting the same AWD system that the New AWD S60 is using.
If you are looking for an AWD car that will go through snow and ice then the system in the AWD S60 is good for snow and ice. If you are looking for an AWD car that makes handling better on dry pavement then look to Audi and BMW.
The AWD system, in the S60 is more bullet proof then the design that is currently in the V70 XCs. The S60 AWD can deal with odd size tires, like the tiny spare tire and so on…. It was the odd size tires that caused the problem in the old and current V70 XCs. So you should have better luck with the new design.
I personally own a 99 XC and I would not buy Volvo again. However if you have had better luck with Volvo then you might want to take the plunge. My only Beef with the S60 is the automatic transmission. Being an Engineer by Profession I personally feel that the automatic transmission is a pile of junk. But I know others feel different.
Good luck,
Steven---
