Nathan, I'm guessing that the sturdier the better. First, the three 4mm bolts are the equivalent of one 12mm, PLUS they're spread across the base PLUS the real structural demand is on the shear [or is that torsion?] movement between left mount and right mount - that is, across the length of the brace. Just my two kroners worth...
