Selling a car with a new engine V70-XC70 2001

I think that the engine change could be considered a "hidden defect" that a reasonable person would not detect.
I suspect that a good repair shop or dealer would detect the engine change and tell the new owner.
A nasty and shrewd buyer would drive the car for a while and then demand their money back.
I would not want that possibility hanging over my head.

I too am interested in why the engine was changed, also why would someone sell a car with 11,000 miles?
