This is from memory and I only do it once every few months so forgive me if I forget something. With the car in the air and wheel off remove the sway bar endlinks, ABS sensor, and two bolts that hold the lower end of the strut. Now to the top of the car. Remove the 3 retaining bolts. At this point the whole strut unit should just pull out from the bottom of the car spring, strut, mount and all. Now using a spring compressor, compress the spring until the strut mount bolt, the big one on the top, can be removed. I usually use a allen and a spaner. Now transfer the old spring to the new stut, and reinstal the mount and nut or replace them. I only replace them if they are torn. Now after you are sure everthing it tight, de-compress the strut. Not just re install the whole unit back in the car. An alignment is a good idea after you replace struts. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.
