oil dripping onto my oil filter 1987

i have a 1987 volvo 760 turbo. we have developed an oil leak. when i steam clean the bottom of the engine and start the car, i can see oil running down
onto the oil filter from above. buti cant see the source. does anyone have a sugestion on how i should approach this? it appears to leak when the car is running, so i cant remove the oil filter to look. please help if you can.
