Lifter noise..... Why? 850 1997

How many miles? Do you change oil religously? Have you flushed the oil lately?

I would suggest flushing by draining the crankcase, (don't remove the filter) adding 4 qts ATF, idling for 15 - 20 mins, draining good, (it takes a little longer,) changing filter, adding good oil 5W30 (maybe even Syn oil.)
