Refer to the Tom Irwin's "Ballad of Christine" wherein he had the head of his 150k 960 rebuilt by finest German machine shop in LA, and it promptly blew out the rings when he got it together. He still sometimes posts here at RWD under the handle "Toyota Tom". His wife still has a 940.
I think your block is (was) probably living on borrowed time.
North of 200,000 miles, no make that "north of 120,000", I wouldn't just replace the head on one of these aluminium buggers. If you did, in fact bend the valves, considering the miles on the car, I'd look for a complete engine. In fact, to make it a really "fun" sleeper, consider the complete drivetrain from a SVC70 turbo 5-speed.
