A word about battery's going bad. 850

Keep in mind a corroded battery terminal connection is much more common than a battery suddenly going dead. Also, this would explain your difficulty jump-starting it. The removal of the old battery and installation of a new one would probably temporarily fix a corrosion problem. The original Volvo battery is very low in cranking capacity, believe it's only 320 CCA. Most cars have batteries with 500-1000 CCA. Any car I know of would have plenty of capacity to jump-start a Volvo.
