Gearbox removal 850 1996

Has anyone removed a manual g/box? My thrust bearing is making some really weird noises and I think the clutch is on the way out as well! I can source all the parts and have the use of a garage with ramps etc. I have done a 240 box before but not a FWD. Seeing my local Volvo dealer wants nearly £800 I thought I would have a go. I have a mate who is a good mechanic to keep an eye on me. What I really want to know is there any pitfalls I should look out for.
