A change of the best ATF is a whole lot less expensive than a new transmission.
If the fluid is still pink or red, you can get by, but if it has started to change color, by all means change it. Ideally, you'll change before it starts showing signs of oxidation.

I've been using AMSOIL ATF since it came on the market, maybe 18 years ago. It works--probably better than any other.
