Hi Keith,

I have never had the change to install an Ignition Switch. However, the ignition switch in my 1999 XC left me in the parking lot of my employer. I could not insert the key.

Dealer did a replacement. At the time I was told that the 1998 70 series were having problems with the ignition switches and that Volvo was extending the warranty on 98 models only. Check with your dealer to see if there is an extended warranty on the Ignition switch.
