There are two clutch TSBs on 98s:
Number Date Description
4410004 990701 Clutch Pedal - Revised Auxiliary Spring
4410006 990301 Campaign - Decrease In Clutch Efficiency
Since 4410006 is a campaign the dealer offered to do it for me for
free (even ordered the parts). But it is for problems shifting into
gear and mine does not really miss shifts; just 1st gear starts
can be a "rough" (you know what I mean, I'm sure).
For 4410004 I suspect you have to buy the parts. Most dealers will
probably print hte TSB for you with the install instructions. TSB
says .1 hour work and warns existing spring under pressure and to wear
eye protection. Also mentions some special grease. So, I'd tackle it
only if you see the TSB. (alldatdiy.com will sell you a one year
subscription for $25 that includes the TSBs -- thats where I got this
information).
