First I have to say that I have used Jacobs ignition systems with great success on other pre-1994 vehicles I have had. Namely a Ford Van and a Honda Civic. In both cases the power increased (about 1 second drop in 1/4 mile), the emissions went down, the mileage went up by 1-2 mpg, the car started faster and easier, and the engines ran smoother too. I was completely satisfied with the Jacobs system and considered it a great investment!
But, I seem to be nervous about putting non-standard mods on my 850. By non-standard I mean not sold by IPD, TME, Eastern Areospace, or the other regular Volvo tuners.
Has anyone tried this system on an 850? I don't know much about the Volvo ignition system, so maybe it's good enough already. However, since most people recommend changing the 850's plugs at about 15k miles for max performance, I have to think that the ignition system could benefit from an upgrade.
Has anyone else used one on their Volvo? Are you satisfied with the Volvo ignition system? Any other comments? Unless I hear some bad comments from others on this board I'll probably work up the courage (and cash) to get one next month.
