First, get the OEM Volvo manual(s)

US # 800-25-volvo and order the engine manual for your car, there's actually several engine manuals for "white engines" but there is one that deals specifically with overhaul proceedures (don't have the TP # handy now). It's really too complicated to tell you everything necessary here online and unless you're very mechanically inclined, you stand a good chance of botching the job and possibly ruining an expensive engine. I'd advise paying a professional IMHO but if you're still determined to do all that work yourself, don't even think about it w/o having the OEM manual right in front of you.
As for your other thread about valve guide seals that requires removing cams and lifters, etc, etc.....there are also costly special tools required to do the job correctly (the way that Volvo wants it done) so I really wouldn't suggest trying that yourself either as I think you'll end up being very sorry.
