As far as A/C noise goes, that isn't too unusual. The noise is liquid flowing over the orifice (and turning to gas). Some cars do it a lot, some cars don't do it, and others make the noise under certain conditions sicne the pressures differ by temperature. A difference in charge can cause it as well.
Basically, if the system works properly and doesn't leak, it might be just as well to live with it. ANY small change in evap design could also cause more noise. If they altered it at all, it could account for more resonating hiss from the evap.
