Just a note here, start by knowing freon charge.

The high side pressure can be read by using Volvos VST (scan tool) or the Vadis PC on '99 and newer cars.
When recharging an AC system, the oil does not get sucked out, it stays there so it's not an issue.
When replacing an AC component or hose that blew apart thus losing some oil, that's the ONLY time oil is added as the new part doesn't come with oil (except Volvo compressors).
