I'd cut the wires and solder to the speaker terminal leads. Thats
how we did the very best high-end installs when I installed car stereo
(lots of vibration in cars that can cause problems with many types of
crimps).
First, put some solder on the speaker leads while the speake is on the
bench where it is easy to work with. Just a bit is needed. Then, strip
and tin the wire ends. To connect, re-heat solder on the speaker terminal
and lay the tinned wire onto it. Hold steady for a second, or two, til cooled. No come-backs with that method!
