I bought a 98 S70 in July, and never thought of checking the AC (but I should of), especially on a cold NH day.
Come a heat wave in April/May, no AC. Take it back to the dealer (used car dealer, specializing in Volvos, Saabs, BMW's etc, this is the 2nd Volvo I've purchased from them, haven't had any problems with them). They check the AC, its low, recycle & recharge, and cold air flows. They don't charge me for the recharge.
6-7 weeks later same thing happens, bring it back, they say there was a loose fitting, recycle & recharge, and cold air flows. Again, they don't charge me for the recharge
2 weeks ago, same thing happens. Bring it in, they recharge it for a temp fix, Today they kept it for the day to find the problem.
Now they say its the evaporator core, and it will cost me $800 to have it replaced and installed. After everything that has happened, I think they should cover this, but, it seems like I'm fighting a losing battle.
Anyway, I've seen several posts about evaporators, and others have said its upwards to $2k to replace. Is that the same as a evaporator core? And is $800 sound unreasonable for the work?
Thanks
