Thanks for the reply David,

yes, I will look into South County Volvo if we decide the car indeed needs a new tranny.

Kearny mesa quoted us $1800 for a rebuilt tranny with a 12 month/unlimited miles warranty + 10 hours labor. I am waiting for a quote from an online OEM parts dealer that offers a two year/unlimited mile warranty right now.

Don't know about the Volvo community, but I haven't found a good tuner in the San Diego area that does top notch work on my Audi yet, so I end up making an OC or LA run when needed. Oh well, I guess the search continues...
