newbie to DIY - what do I need? 850

A good jack, two jack stands (the jack and stands should be $100 Can or less, go for the 3 ton or greater for my safety margin and stability as the higher the rating, the wider the jack stand base, but don't go too high, or the minimum stand height is pretty high), a good metric wrench set (as engineers say, I can't afford cheap tools, a decent set with sockets and a decent ratchet should be less thatn $200 Can), brake bleeding tool ($5 Can), oil filter wrench ($20 Can). This stuff will allow you to tackle MUCH more than just brakes and oil changes, but in my opinion is necessary. You don't want to be rounding bolts on overtorqued, brake dust encrusted, thermal shocked brake bolts/nuts.
