I just read the service records again. The temperature gauge ran cold before and after the thermostat was replaced. The problem began after the serp belt had been replaced for a second time. The first replacement had occurred as scheduled, but 7500 miles later, there was a wear spot around the entire belt. It was when this abnormally worn belt was replaced that I encountered the low temp problem. The dealer that replaced the engine noted that the alternator bracket was at the wrong angle. This could be the course of the problem, could it not?
