If you mean that when turning the key to the start position, it doesn't crank the engine over at all the first few times of trying, there are other possibilities besides the starter. The starter is easily changed but one should be sure to check the "s wire" (small single post wire) at the solenoid for voltage when this occurs first. You could also have a bad starter relay, corroded terminals, PNP switch or ignition switch that could also cause a "no crank" when first trying to start the car.
If it's cranking but not immediately starting, you have another problem(s).
