Your input makes very much sense, and puts my mind at ease.
Please do excuse my relative ignorance regarding FWD and automatic transmissions! I flushed the transmission yesterday with some Valvoline synthetic blend. Barring no leaks, planning on going to fully synthetic later, following a 2nd cheap flush and a transmission filter installation. The car now has 140k miles on it and I once had some leakage problems swithing to synthetic engine oil (rear main due to fouled flame trap, no doubt). Now also running synth. blend in the engine for the past 40k miles, with no ill effects. Think the detergents now have prepared the seals sufficiently for fully synthetic switch...
