Just had a somewhat similar problem with my a/c blower. My blower motor was acting erratic and then finally only worked on high speed. Then the blower continued to run even after shutting off the car, obviously an open circuit. It ended up being the resistor that is located behind the glove box. Its a finned metal box thing. After replacing ($100.00) the part everything was back to normal with the a/c. Good luck.
