If the car sits the rotors willl rust. The rotors are just iron discs. Brake a few times and they'll be a shiny as new.

Don't know what you mean by "undercarriage", the 850 body is completely galvanized.

OF COURSE have it checked out by a good indie Volvo shop! But we're in a recession. There are bargains out there.
