Replacing 2001 V40 centre console with 2002 version S40-V40

So can I simply buy the part from the dealer and replace it myself? I'm not one to covet cup holders, but the 2001 configuration really is useless and I know I am going to have to replace that curtain thing again, and I suspect it will be at my cost. Seems more prudent to retrofit the 2002 piece.
