Smoke from the dipstick? 850

Hello!
My father in-law brought his 740 I-T in for a check up and the dealer says his piston rings are gone. They deturmend this by pulling out the dipstick and seeing some smoke and lots of pressure, this car has 300k. I went and cecked my `95 855 t-5 and I saw a little bit of smoke, less than 200k. Should I be worried?
